28 Oct Match Reports – 26/10/24
CYFC u13’s MUYL 2-0 Bandbridge
This week the Lads headed to Lurgan to face Banbridge were there usually isn’t much between the 2 teams over the last few meetings.
We really needed a good response from the lads after a disappointing result the previous week and they delivered.
We started well after a few early nerves. We kept the ball well, and showed how well we can pass and control the game. First goal started from defense with a nice pass from Keegan, to Liam who turned nicely and played a neat pass to Cillian who slipped it through to Jamie who slotted it nicely passed the goalkeeper, 1 nil Cookstown. Jamie sent a lovely ball over the top to Zack but the defender blocked the shot.
Zack then turned provider when he set up Josh who seen his shot just hit the side netting. Some good defending from Riley and Connor on the right hand side kept Banbridge away, and the Town lads go on 1 up.
Banbridge created a few opportunities but Daniel in goal was determined to keep a clean sheet today, he was equal to everything that came his way.
– We got on all our subs to get some fresh legs on and they all done a good job when they got on. Danny came on and ran his socks off, Noah had a good shot saved by the keeper when he shrugged off his defender with a lovely turn. With the game looking like it was done some nice play up the right seen a the Cookstown lads awarded a corner, Zack swung in the corner which was knocked into the Banbridge goal by their own defender, 2 nil Cookstown. A big 3 points and a clean sheet, just what we wanted from them.
Man of the match was split this week between the Skipper Keegan Kelly and Cillian (Mbappe) Conway covered every blade of grass as usual. Well done lads.
In what has been a very tough start to the season the lads have done well, winning 5 out of 7 having played every team in the top half.
Next up is a game against TTBS, hopefully we can kick on and get a nice wee run on the go
