Match Reports – 20/01/24

CYFC u10’s 4 – 0 Ards Rangers

A 1st Saturday morning match for our u10 youth team in the SBYL, against Ards Rangers at Avoniel Leisure Centre. It was the Cookstown lads who got going the quickest, with Luke Fearon netting the opener with a well taken goal. Ards began to settle and got the ball forward but could find no way past Zac Johnson & Jack Kilpatrick in defence who dealt with everything with great authority. The Cookstown lads continued to look for their 2nd goal with some really good passing in midfield from Jenson Bell, Ruairi Kelly & Adam Toal. With the 1st half drawing to a close, Zac won the ball in defence and found Luke, who played a superb ball in between the 2 Ards defenders for Ryan MC Cullagh to pick up and slot home to make it 2 nil at half time.

The 2nd half seen Ards get a few scoring opportunities, with their forwards forcing Harris Hill into making a couple of excellent saves to keep the game at 2 nil. The Cookstown boys continued to do what they done in the 1st half, passing the ball quickly to each other and creating chance’s, a 3rd goal followed with the ball played out from the back from Zac onto Jenson, who found Luke out wide, who seen Adam making a run from midfield to get on to the end of his cross to make it 3 nil. Ards didn’t let their heads drop and continued to push forward but Jack was having 1 of those games that nothing or no-one was getting past him. A 4th goal soon followed with Ruairi winning the ball in midfield, which he then set up Ryan for his 2nd of the game with a lovely finish. Overall a very good team performance from Cookstown, with some really excellent passing & movement throughout the team.
