22 Dec Mid Season Review – CYFC U17’s
The u17s started off the season with a very different team from last season with the 2007s and 2008s joining together and a few additions from other clubs threw into the mix also. They started off the season with no keeper due to new signing Cayden Murray being ruled out through injury so it was left to Aidan McElhatton to deputise and he passed with flying colours. So far they have played 12 games in the league winning 8 and losing 4. On their day with the free flowing football that they can play they’ve shown that they can give anyone a game.
Onto the cups they had a disappointing 4-1 defeat away to Wellington Rec in the NI cup with the 9:15 KO time away in Larne looking like a big factor with a few tired eyes on a day that the team never got going even after a late red card for the home side. This was soon forgot about tho as they defeated local rivals Dungannon in the K.O cup to overcome the same opponents that defeated them in the league. Now they’re are looking forward to the next round in the new year.
Going into the new year there’s talks of a league split with the league diving into a premiership and championship currently the lads would qualify for the premiership and would be hoping to challenge for the title. Also with more cup competitions to challenge for going into the new year the 17s will be pushing hard to get their hands on some silverware to show off come the end of the 2023/24 season.
