Mid Season Review – CYFC U14’s

Despite getting off to a great start in the league, winning two out of our first three fixtures, the boys have never really got going at all this season. With a few new faces recruited in the summer, although it has definitely strengthened the squad, it has taken time for all the boys to gel together. Performances have been inconsistent, one day the football can be sensational and everyone is battling for one another and the next day they are playing like strangers with no fighting qualities on show whatsoever. Seems a lack of belief could be holding them back. Some of our best performances have ended in defeat but the battling and never say die attitude were always present throughout them games.

Our aim for the second half of the season will be to try and go on a run in the Cup competitions, get the confidence back and finish strongly in the league because as it stands, we could be playing in the Championship next season. The boys know what needs to be done, in order to achieve this. This will involve, lads coming to training with match intensity and a real desire to make the starting lineup on a match day, not enough just to show up. What we do in training carries into the match at the weekend.

Happy Christmas to all our boys, their parents and their families.
