Mid Season Review – CYFC U11’s Colts

The young Colts have had a really good start to their first league campaign. Having only started training together on the 18th July they didn’t have much time to bond before being entered into the Markethill Cup on the 11th August. The lads went down and played there hearts out coming away as winners of the Shield. They boys were on a high after this and looked forward to the start of the league. Up came our first league game of the season against Riverdale and the boys came out with there heads up and ready to go. This was proved with a 6-0 victory in there first league game together. Over the next 3 games the boys were better than there opposition but a couple of lapses in concentration cost them the games. Back to the drawing board and the team came out with new life and have won four of there last 6 league games with the 2 defeats being by one goal margins. The boys are doing themselves and the coaches and the parents proud.

First cup campaign for the team didn’t go as planned. We started the first game strong but couldn’t find a goal. The opposition pushed hard and found the Colts net 4 times in a hard to take defeat. With being put out of the Cup competition the boys moved onto the Shield. The game started very even and the boys fought hard. However it wasn’t to be our day. The opposition scored with players clearly offside. The boys didn’t take this well and the heads dropped and ended up being knocked out. Concentration now turns to the league Cup. Great start to this being made with an 8-1 Victory in the first game. Second game postponed due to weather.

Our aims for the remainder of the season are to continue to build as a team and go for league cup victory. Well done to the whole team so far this season. You have all worked really hard and should be really proud of what you have achieved so far this season.
