Mid Season Review – CYFC U11’s Youth

Cookstown Youth U11s have shown tremendous progress in the first half of the season, having secured victory in 8 out of 13 matches. This success has been built on some electric attacking displays with the team scoring 66 goals, across 8 different goalscorers and already surpassing the total goals scored for the whole of the last campaign! At the back the defence and goalkeeper have provided real defensive solidity by limiting opponents to 1 goal or less in over half of the games played including an impressive run of 5 halves of football without conceding!

The lads have had some real standout victories including notable wins against Fivemiletown Utd (11-0), Castlecaulfield (8-0), Annagh Utd (9-1) and Glenavon (8-3) and were unlucky in some other close fought games against top tier sides losing out by the odd goal. Win or lose these games alongside the weekly training has afforded the lads the opportunity to grow and develop as players hopefully setting them up for success in the 2nd half of the campaign.

Looking ahead, the lads are set to embark on their League Cup campaign with the commencement of the Knockout Cup in January presenting another opportunity for success. Additionally, the anticipation builds as the lads eagerly look forward to the Blackpool Cup in May, providing them with a chance to test their mettle on a larger stage and create lasting memories.
