22 Dec Match Reports – 09/12/23
CYFC u12’s Colts 2 – 0 Portadown Youth
The boys headed off to Castlecaufield again for their second game of the league Cup campaign. The match started fast and was end to end but neither team able to break the deadlock. Cookstown boys settled after 15 minutes and started to get some good passes strung together. A few good through balls from Cameron and Cillian seen Jamie go through but portadown keeper was in good form and produced a good few saves. Deadlock was finally broke when the Cookstown team got a free kick on the right and was hit by Zack Nellins, the ball hitting the roof of the net to get his 14th goal of the season and see the boys go in at half time, 1 nil up.There wasn’t much between the sides and both teams created good chances but Riley was having a good game and making some great saves. It was the keeper Riley who created the second goal with a long kick right up the pitch over the defenders heads, one bounce and a good strike from Jamie Loughran who has been in a decent run of form made it 2 nil. The boys defended well and held on to make it 2 wins out of 2 and see them top of the league going into the Christmas break.
Man of the match today, Noah Young who put in a good hard shift when he came off the bench.
