CYFC u10’s 3 – 2 Doyle FC
This week the boys had a top of the table clash with Doyle FC in Blanchflower Stadium, both teams going into this fixture unbeaten in the league so far this season.
The game got off to a fast start with chance’s falling to both teams but it was Cookstown who broke the deadlock with a fine goal from Luke Fearon. This triggered the game into action with Ryan MC Cullagh having the next chance only to be denied by the crossbar. Doyle then got up the field and got their equaliser & then a few minutes later they went 2-1 up. The Cookstown lads didn’t drop their heads once with Jenson Bell, Ruari Kelly & Adam Toal working their socks off in midfield. Doyle continued to push for a 3rd goal but Zach Johnson, Jack Kilpatrick & Kyle Chambers kept holding them at bay with some excellent tackling. As the 1st half started to draw to a close an excellent kick out from our goalie Harris Hill found Ryan 1 on 1 with the Doyle keeper who then calmly slotted the ball home. 2-2 game on!!
The 2nd half continued like the 1st, end to end, tackles flying in, saves being made & crossbars hit, u could see how desperate both teams were to win this game but it was Cookstown who got the next goal with Ruari winning the ball in midfield, finding Ryan with a pass who then put Luke in to get his 2nd of the night, 3-2. A real edge of your seat finish to the game saw a fine save from Harris and some unbelievable defending from Zach & Jack and with Kyle, Jenson & Adam giving everything in midfield, Cookstown seen the game out to head up the road with another win.

CYFC u12’s (Youth) 4 – 1 TTBS
This week seen the beginning of the League cup campaign for the young lads. They made the short trip up the road to Castlecaufield for the gamw against TTBS. The boys started fast and created chance after chance but were unable to beat the TTBS goalkeeper who was having a great game. Some good link up play between Cillian and Cameron and a nice through ball seen Jamie Loughran race onto the ball and finally break the deadlock, 1 nil Cookstown. Some great defending by Liam, Keegan and Reece kept the score at 1 nil. Zack got on the score sheet with a nice goal to double the lead and settle the nerves, 2 nil. Just before halftime the boys got their 3rd and Jamies 2nd goal of the match to see the lads go in 3 nil at the break.
Second half the boys created multiple chances but THE TTBS goalkeeper was pulling off some great saves. TTBS got 1 back when the lads failed to clear a corner, 3-1. Any sign of comeback was quickly snubbed out when zack played a lovely ball over the top to see Jamie run onto it to make it 4-1 and get his first hattrick for the club. Good win for the boys, on a different day it could have been double figures, but 3 points and up the road, next week the boys play Banbridge in the League Cup.
