Cookstown Youth MUYL u13 4 – 0 Moira FC
Cookstown boys needed a reaction after last week’s disappointing performance vs Markethill Swifts and they produced it today. Five minutes in and they were in the lead, quick corner routine between Martin and Corrigan saw the latter drive his shot from edge of the area into roof of the net. A few minutes later and Cookstown and Corrigan got their second, from a direct free kick. Timoney was leading the line well and proving a real handful for the Moira defence. After he was fouled on edge of box, Corrigan, feeling confident after netting earlier, stepped up to despatch the free kick. Conway and Mc Aleer were dominating in the midfield which allowed Bell,Corrigan and Martin to get up and support Timoney. O’Hagan in the Cookstown goal, had very little to do throughout but made a wonder save from Moira attacker late in the first half. Rogers was slow to release the ball and was robbed of possession on the edge of his own box, letting striker in on goal but he was denied superbly by O’Hagan.
Cookstown came out in second half with same intensity but Moira had sat in not to concede any more and were proving difficult to break down. Third goal came from a free kick, Martin struck it sweetly towards far top corner, only for Moira keeper to get a palm on it but Davidson was on hand to bundle home the rebound. Davidson got his second and Cookstown’s fourth with a few minutes to go. Mc Aleer broke through midfield and slipped Davidson in on goal with a sublime pass, Davidson raced through, with defenders closing in on him, hit a first time strike right into bottom corner. Great display from the whole squad.
