Cookstown Youth 3 – 0 Loughgall Colts
Cookstown opened the scoring within two minutes, a great through ball from Timoney set Joshua Mc Cabe in on goal and although he managed to beat the keeper, the upright kept his effort out but only for Walshe to finish off the rebound with a tap in from 2 yards out. Cookstown continued to dominate remainder of the first half with some excellent forward play by Halligan, Hampsey and Mc Cabe but they just couldn’t find that second goal. Five minutes into the second half and that goal duly arrived via a Hampsey corner, a bullet header from Timoney left the visiting keeper no chance. The third goal came via an OG after Davidson’s dangerous cross cannoned off the Loughgall defender and looped over the keeper. Great team effort saw the game out and ensured the team kept a clean sheet.

Annagh Utd v CYFC 16s

Cookstown Youth faced Annagh United on Friday night in an end to end clash that saw both teams come away with a point.

Cookstown got off to the worst possible start when a loose pass at the back allowed the Annagh striker to break through and he made no mistake to give his side the lead.

This gave Cookstown an early wake up call and despite the early blow, they settled themselves and began to play the better football. Aren Kudrenko and Luke Neeson were linking well with Jamie Kerrigan and creating the majority of Cookstown’s chances down the left hand side. James Bell worked very hard up front and was making himself difficult to deal with when his side had possession.

At half time, Cookstown changed their shape slightly to give a more attacking threat. Five minutes into the half, Jude Murphy had an impact when his free kick was saved only to be fired in by Shaun Og Shields for the equaliser. Cookstown gained confidence and again looked the more likely to score when Peter McLean had a super effort that was heading for the top corner well saved by the Annagh goalkeeper.

Ciaran Devlin and Aaron Whitten were working extremely hard in midfield and Jamie Barry was fantastic on the right hand side getting forward and causing problems. With both teams going for the win it was Annagh who took the lead with 15 minutes to go. Cookstown again picked themselves up and Darragh McHugh was reintroduced to add to the attack. With 7 minutes left Sean Devlin delivered a free kick into the box and Luke Neeson won his battle for the ball and finished well into the left side netting to the delight of all his teammates. Both sides pushed for the win and it took some great goalkeeping from Benas Keturakis and a goal line block from Jamie Barry to preserve the well earned point
