CYFC u14’s 4 Foyle Harps 1

Last Saturday the 2008’s completed their NL Area 1 group games with a match away to Foyle Harps at the Vale in Greysteel.
On a wet and baltic day on the banks of the Foyle the Blues started sharply with Mulgrew forcing a good save after a fine pass from Beatty in the opening minutes. Beatty then forced a decent save from the home keeper from a headed effort before blazing over the bar on 7 minutes. A defence splitting pass from Donnelly found Mulgrew who confidently stroked the opener home with his left foot on 10 minutes. Mulgrew headed a cross just wide on 17 minutes before Beatty forced another save on 23 minutes. Talbot then saw a chance fly just over the bar before halftime.
Patterson then shot just wide on 40 minutes before Beatty hit his first of the game after a great run down the left. The Harps came more into the game with their powerful striker powering home from an angle on 45 minutes. Patterson in goal pulled off a couple of good saves before Lennox forced a good save 2 minutes later. Beatty then pulled his shot just wide on 50 minutes. An incredible 70 yard run from Beatty from a Foyle corner doubled his account on the hour mark before he finished off his hat trick with another brilliant finish with minutes remaining to make it 4-1.
The young sizzlers finished their early campaign with a fantastic 5W 2D 2L record finishing 4th in the Area 1 Group stages.
