Victory For U10s Against Lurgan

Victory For U10s Against Lurgan

Cookstown travelled to Annagh utd 3g on saturday to play Lurgan cetic in what turned out to be a great game of football. Both teams battled hard in hot conditions an it wasnt long before they took the leed , Aidan Mcelhatton broke clear down the right an fizzed a great ball across the celtic keeper who could not keep the ball from going into the back of the net , 5 mins later celtic responded with a great shot from the striker to level the scores . Just before the break Donnelly broke clear down the left an played in Jay wilson an he made no mistake with the finish to leave it 2-1 at the break.
The second half started an cookstown were under pressure. Celtic made it 2-2 from a great free kick and not long after took the leed through a long looping ball that caused all sorts of problems in the cookstown defence an it somehow found the back of the net. This was harsh on the youth as they were battleing hard against much older , bigger and physical lads.Harry Mckenzie an Isaac kelso was causing alot of problems an Kelso won a free kick 20 yards out , Jake Donnelly stepped up an hit a rocket into the top corner of the net to again level the scores. Cyfc were in total control now and were pushing for the winner , 5 mins before the end cyfc won another corner , Donnelly played in a great ball into the box  and Brendan Mulgrew rose above everyone to win the game for cookstown an keep a great winning streak going for the lads who now are unbeaten in 6 league games . Well done lads!!
