Solid Performance From CYFC U15s

CYFC u15s 3 Carniny 0

Last Saturday the young sizzlers welcomed Carniny to MUSA in a National League fixture. With several players returning to the squad after absence the previous week away to league leaders Maiden City, Cookstown started the brighter with captain Iarlaith Donaghy testing the keeper after only 2 minutes from 20 yards. Good work by Eoin Gallagher provided Shane Murphy with a free kick twenty five yards out after a Carniny foul. His sublime left footed drive dipped just under the bar as Cookstown took a deserved lead on 27 minutes. He went close again before great work by Gallagher presented Donaghy his first and Cookstown’s second 2 minutes later from 12 yards. Into the second half Morgan Moore in goal made several good saves and interceptions with William Kenning and Ben McErlean working hard under Carniny pressure in central defence. Hussein Freide, John Duffy, Jake Fraser and Rian Mullan all came on to freshen up the team. But it was that man Donaghy thriving in his midfield role that killed the game as a contest with a powerful finish close to the final whistle. A fantastic and complete TEAM performance with William Kenning named man of the match.
