Cookstown Youth entertainted Clough Rangers Atheltic at the Mid ulster arena last Saturday . This was only Cookstown Youths second competitive game in the Ballymena league . After the opening day defeat to Wakehurst Strollers manager Nial Hunter brought in some new recruits in the way of Ryan Glasgow and Keifer Scott to help bolster his attacking options.
As early as the third minute Kelly and Doyle linked up with some delightful work only to see their effort go agonisingly wide. Cookstown Youth were in dominating form and it was just an onslaught on the Clough goal.Debutant Glasgow had a chance on goal but his lob just scraped the top of the cross bar. Tavares and Keifer Scott were running the right and left backs ragged and it was Scott who fed Kelly through one on one with the keeper but the keeper stood his ground and made a fine save. Attack after attack was mounted on the Clough goal . Another debutant James Leslie watched in agony as his header went wide of the post. That was the goal that broke the hearts of the Clough defence as the flood gates now opened for more goals.Kelly, Doyle and Glasgow linked up again with some masterful football that carved up the Clough defence again and there was new boy Glasgow to tap in his second goal and the youths third. There was no letting up in the attack Cookstown wanted more goals and so did the crowd who had come out to support the local side. Keifer Scott hit a hum dinger of a shot from all of 40 yards which was goal bound only for the Clough keeper to make a world class save . Hungry striker Kelly was working hard and he got his reward  with a goal which was laid on by Glasgow. 4 nil up and cruising O neill was brought on for Tavares as the youngster had run himself into the ground. Still pushing for goals Ryan Glasgow was upended in the box and with a bit of a delay the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty. The ball was given to Glasgow who blasted the ball hard and low into the goal to make the score 5.0.
Still there was more goals to come and that wee midfield dynamo Scott pushed the ball through for O neill who ran on and rounded the keeper to make it 6.
