CYFC UPDATE FOR WEEKEND 26th MARCH 2016

CYFC u15s 0 Linfield 1
Last Tuesday at MUSA Cookstown faced another Belfast giant in a cup competition in a rearranged fixture. After a great win over Carniny the previous Saturday the local boys started confidently in front of a bumper crowd at the Sport’s Arena.  A long range free kick by Shane Murphy struck the post on 15 minutes with Tiernan Mackle heading over the bar from a corner five minutes later. Just before half time Linfield struck the crossbar with Morgan Moore pulling off several fine saves from close range. Captain Iarlaith Donaghy saw a great effort fly over the crossbar just before the whistle. Ten minutes into the second half Cookstown failed to clear their lines on several attempts with Linfield stabbing home the opening goal on 40 minutes from twelve yards. Linfield started to dominate possession but Cookstown still created half chances through Eoin Gallagher, Murphy and Mackle. Moore again was called into action producing a co man of the match performance alongside Tiernan Mackle. At the back Patterson, McErlean, Kenning and Wilson fought for every ball. Fraser, Mullan, Gabrysiak all entered the fray but Linfield  ran out eventual winners in a game Cookstown can be so proud of their effort, determination and togetherness. Linfield rocked up thinking that the result would be routine but the boys pushed them all the way right to the final whistle in one of their best performances of the season.
