CYFC TO CELEBRATE A QUARTER OF A CENTURY

CYFC TO CELEBRATE A QUARTER OF A CENTURY

Cookstown Youth Football Club are celebrating 25 years in existence this year and plans are in place to mark this achievement in May of this year.

CYFC started in 1991 and was born from the Cookstown Utd days with a vision to provide the local game with a future and a steady flow of young players moving through the ranks and on into the senior ranks , and even though Utd are no longer with us CYFC has continued to grow from just two teams to now , 25yrs later , boasting ten youth teams and just this season a senior team to boot . The club has approximately 300 kids involved and in or around 50 coaching staff and that’s just in the youth side if things and not to mention the other volunteers who work tirelessly in the background and without whom we would struggle to operate.

The Burnavon in Cookstown will be the venue for an exhibition of pictures , kits , trophies , player features etc spanning the last quarter of a century and will be open to the public for the month of MAY 2016, and the month long birthday celebrations will climax on the 28th May 2016 with our annual end of season dinner , which for the first year ever will include a Cookstown Youth FC senior team , what a way to mark a great landmark for our club.

Further details will appear in the local press as well as our website and Facebook Page.

Who would have thought in 1991 we would be where we our today , and that’s down to the hard work and commitment of an army of volunteers over the years , to many to mention , but be assured they will be mentioned in the weeks and months ahead.

If you are reading this and are an ex player , coach , Parent of a player or Family member of a player , and have any old pictures or kits that could be included in the exhibition, then get in touch with Public Relations Officer Andy Kelly on 07872901473 or send an Email to cyfc1991@gmail.com with a contact number and someone will be in touch.

A massive thanks to all those who have steered CYFC to the position we are in today and here’s to a special month of celebration in May 2016, and many more years to come !
