CYFC MATCH REPORTS FROM FRI 12th and SAT 13th MAY

Friday 12th May :

Cookstown Youth 0 Woodlands 2
Cookstown youth lost the final of the Canada cup last Friday night going down 2-0 to Carrick side woodlands.
Cookstown dominated the 1st half with the ball but could not find the break through, with J Glasgow, M Megarry, K Scott all having half chances but not taking them. Woodlands best attack of the half saw their forward hit the crossbar from 18 yards out.
The Carrick side took the lead 5 minutes into the 2nd half when the big centre forward was left free to head home the 1st goal. 5 minutes later they were 2-0 up when a harmless looking shot was misjudged by G McElhatton in the Cookstown goal for 2-0. Now chashing the game Cookstown never really put the Woodlands Defence under much pressure, thou K Scott had the ball in the net but it was disallowed by the linesman. Woodlands should have scored more on the night as they played on the break but finished out the match to lift the trophy.
