Under 14s March On In Cup

CYFC u14s 6-0 Kildrum Tigers

Cookstown entertained Donegal side Kildrum in the NIBFA Cup on Saturday determined to put in another good performance. They started slowly and were pinned back into their own half for the first 15 minutes until O’Hare broke clear but his cut back just evaded Corr and Ferguson. This woke Cookstown up and they found the opener when Corr calmly placed past the keeper after twenty minutes. Leek was injured with a poor challenge and Devlin came on in his place but it was Donnelly who almost made it two with a solid run forward. Eventually it was two when Donnell met Corr’s corner to head home from 6 yards out for his second goal in two weeks. At half time, Kane came on down the left hand side and he played a lovely ball to Corr who finished superbly to make it three and score his second of the game. Chasing his hat trick, it just wasn’t to be but his hard work and determination was great to watch. Shea O’Hare got in on the act with a fine run and finish while Donnelly grabbed two goals for himself after he headed home from another corner and scored with a fine finish across the keeper in the dying minutes of the game. Cookstown put in a very good performance after they went ahead and can be pleased to see their name in the next round of the cup. Men of the match were Liam Corr and Stefan Donnelly. Well done lads! It was also good to see Matthew Hurl back in action after his injury. Next week Cookstown entertain Linfield.

Team: Purvis, O’Hare, Devlin, Donnell, Leek, Donnelly, Ferguson, Kane, McElhatton, O’Hare, Corr, Hurl, McNally and O’Donnell.
